  1. When it has came down to Nintendo and the success it has had with games, they definitely know what they do. But, with all the guitar add-ons for the Wii, they just aren’t really many that really seem to deliver for both sides of the angle for Guitar Hero & Rock Band games together. That sadly isn’t the case with the Wii Wireless Guitar from Logitech. While the quiality of products from remote controls, to compatable products Logitech really makes are very high, sadly there are a few disadvantages with the controller. With a price this high, while it can work great with the Guitar Hero games for the Wii, and the upcoming Band Hero, it still isn’t compatable to the Rock Band games for its price. For spending money on a great guitar add-on for the Wii and those music games, there isn’t that proof of those games in the pudding for its price. Logitech should really have made it more universal for what it could’ve been worth. I really recommend you find more price-compatable guitar add-on for your music jamming needs.

Well that was very disappointing, its a beautiful controller, solid, real wood, very nicely made. Doesn’t work, must have been a defective unit. Our regular cheap guitar hero controller works great. This one acts like one of the buttons is always pressed and it keeps cycling thru the menu options and you are unable to play it or get any other butons to work. We tried different controllers, new batteries, resetting everything – no luck. It acts like someone is pressing the select button continuously. Real bummer as we were all so excited by it. This is with Guitar Hero world tour which I assume it should work with right?

If anyone at logitech read this, contact me thru here and tell me if I am doing something wrong? I read the set up docs front and back and my kids are guitar hero champs so they know how to use the controllers very very well.

  3. I’ve been playing Guitar Hero on difference systems since it came out, and being a larger guy, the guitars have always felt really light and cramped. This, of course, is why I can’t master Dragonforce on Guitar Hero III.

I’ve tried upgraded guitars on the Xbox 360 and Wii, but they never quite hit the mark. This Logitech controller, on the other hand, is just about magical.

It’s heavy, like a real guitar. It’s spaced out well, like a real guitar. And it oozes quality all around. No longer will your co-habitants have to hear the sounds of hollow plastic being pounded on. And with the adjustable whammy bar, you can confidently slam the thing without worrying about smashing the controller.

Of course, it’s also expensive. I can’t say I’d invest this kind of money in a controller for a casual player, but if you’re a Guitar Hero nut, this is the best guitar controller you’ll ever have the good fortune to use.

My youngest son has been begging me for a guitar. We took one lesson and he realized that it was actually going to take a lot of work to actually learn to play.

So I decided to see if Guitar Hero would satisfy his inner rock star. He loves it and plays it all the time. The controller is very realistic and well made — almost a little too heavy but that’s probably a good thing since it will last. It feels and looks like a real guitar which is amazing for a “toy” — though given the price, it is clear they have designed it to be as close to the real thing as possible. It works great with the Wii remote.

What I didn’t expect is how much fun the rest of us (i.e. Dad!) would have with it. We have Guitar Hero World Tour and that has a broad range of songs that appeal to just about everyone. So my husband loves to “rock out” with this as well and sometimes I have to remind him to play nice and that it is a “share toy”.

Based on how much fun this has been for our family, we’ll probably go for the microphone too so they can belt out the tunes. The price of this guitar is pretty expensive — however, relative to the price of the games, it really adds to the “extendability” of the Wii system. I may wind up getting a second one because this has been one of the most popular games for the family and so far it has held their interest much longer than some of the other games we have for the Wii.

Feedback from playing with this a little more than a week:

    - Compatible with all games that a normal guitar hero guitar would be compatible with (including all versions of guitar hero and every version of rock band except the first)

    - The strummer is quiet, but not silent like a rock band guitar controller

    - The frets make a sort of “click-clack” noise when pressed…I found this to be useful but some people may find it annoying

    - The touchpad on the guitar controller is less sensitive than the normal guitar hero guitars, however I found this to be more useful as I find the normal guitar hero guitars overly-sensitive

    - The “-” or “starpower” button is actually the bridge right next to the strummer, similar to the starpower button on newer guitar hero guitars

    - Whammy bar worked fine

    - Looks very nice, but also heavy because the neck is made of wood

    - The wii remote slot/cover on the back is a nice idea to hide the wii remote and it also worked nicely

    - Also included was a decent strap similar to the ones included with normal guitar hero guitars

All in all a very nice piece of equipment, I’m not sure that I would pay full price for it, but it looks nice and it also gets the job done well.
