I have to take my wiimotes out of their cases to charge the. If they are in the silicon sleeves or especially if they have a motion attachment on they won’t go on the charge well and I’ll see they moved and aren’t charging when I walk away. One of the batteries fried after on 3.5 months and I’m going to have to try to get Amazon or dreamgear to replace it. I bought this because I didn’t see that Energizer had a 4 mote set out until it was too late to return this. I’d much rather have one of the best names in batteries and the magnets to hold the motes in place. Don’t waste your money on this.

I am not sure why people are giving this good reviews. I bought two of them (one as a gift) and I don’t think it works well at all. During playtime, the remotes simply shut off – even when fully charged. I used two new and two older remotes. Figuring it was the older ones, I began doing experiments to see which remotes I needed to replace. It was not the remotes, it was the unit. Very sad because I was excited to have something so easy to use. My sister’s unit also gave her trouble so I don’t think it is just a bad unit.

I had a Psyclone version of this charger but it didn’t last long, batteries fried. I’ve never had any dreamgear products, but this unit works great.

I’ve read the other reviews about the red lights blinking, and the “Timer based charging” but I’m not seeing that with my unit.

It took a little time for the first charge, but it wasn’t a big deal. Once they were charged the lights turned from red to blue. The batteries were warm after the full charge, but not anymore than my Psyclone got. When my Psyclone batteries died they were Hot, not warm.

How long do they last? Sorry can’t comment, between the PS3, Xbox360, DSi’s, Wii, and outdoor activities not one thing gets used long. We are a family of 6, 4 boys, 5 if you include me lol.

If the remotes are used and placed back on the charger the red lights come on, it charges, and turn blue when they are done. They don’t stay red for hours, just the time they need to charge. If they are fully charged, and you take them off and put them back on, yes the red light turns on, but it turns blue not long after. So as far as timer based set charging times id have to say no. If yours stays red for a long time, and you know it’s charged I would say get a replacement, they are man made, things happen.

My Psyclone lasted 6 months, hopefully this unit will last longer. So far I’m happy, all the Wii remotes work again :-)

After carefully placing the remote on the charging base it flashes red, then solid red in a few minutes and within an hour turns solid blue indicating that it is fully charged. Nice to get extra rechargeable batteries included. You have to make sure that the remote is set on the charging dock precisely.

  5. This induction charger works very well. Place the remotes on the pad and leave them there for a while and they charge…great.

As another reviewer pointed out, the directions are wrong on what to expect from the little flashing lights on the front. I think they said something about flashing blue lights when charging…that isn’t the case. I am not sure exactly what the light pattern is as it seems rather random, but the basic idea is you are going to see red lights (flashing or solid) when the remotes are charging…they may even flash blue from time to time. Once the light turns solid blue and stays that way, your remotes are fully charged.

I can’t say how long the charge lasts as my kids play sometimes and I play sometimes and we definitely haven’t sat there and timed it, but I will say it is clear the charge doesn’t last as long as a regular battery…which I think is to be expected.

I also can’t say for sure if this is worth the money or not. I paid $50 for this charger. For $50 I could have bought about 104 AA batteries…or enough to replace the batteries in all four remotes 13 times. I will estimate that the rechargeable batteries last about half as long as regular Duracell or Energizer batteries. To break even, I would have to recharge the remotes 26 times (assuming that each time I ran the batteries down to one bar. Which I often don’t, when one or two remotes are down to one bar and the other two are still at two bars I recharge them. I wouldn’t replace regular batteries if there were still two bars left. So, really I need to recharge them more than 26 times to break even.) So far, I have recharged them 5 or 6 times and I have had this charger for about a month. I imagine it will be a while before I get to 26 or more recharges, but I am hopefully the rechargeable batteries will last longer than that…making this a money saving purchase…if not, then it would make more sense to still with regular batteries…they are less of a hassle for sure.
